Facebook and WhatsApp Musings on “aavani Avittam” day — 22 August 2021

The Sanskrit message above received this morning by me from a friend on WhatsApp means this (in my limited knowledge of the language):

The culture born of the Sanskrit language enshrines within itself not only the 4 great “purushaartha” of Dharma, Artha, Kaama, Moksha but it also cherishes many others fields of discipline such as modern Secular and Dhaarmic, Scientific and Contemporary inquiry. Which is why it is such an enlightened culture.”
🙏

And then today there was also this other great question posed on Facebook by another friend of mine :

“Speech or Silence?

“Words are made of silver, but silence is made of gold.Portuguese proverb. OR , If silence is golden, then speech is platinum – it spreads wisdom, dispels ignorance, ventilates grievances, stimulates curiosity, lightens the spirits and lessens the fundamental loneliness of the soul. “ – Jan Struther.

“There’s too much of talking and chatting these days on chat rooms in social media …

“So Choose the Correct Answer!”

And my chosen ANSWER to him was this ;

Today is sacred Avani Avittam … yesterday was sacred Sri Hayagreeva Jayanthi … both very auspicious days to celebrate “vaak devata” …. power and energy of Speech … Whether Speech is silver, golden or platinum , we must know that it is what places Homo sapiens right at the top of the evolutionary spiral .

Without Speech there would be no Evolution at all.

Adhaaram Sarva vidyaanaam hayagreevam upaasmahe 🙏

May the God of Vedic Speech and Knowledge bless us all on this sacred day … well … er… even on these chat rooms of social media that so much dominates our daily world today …

Chatting might be mere brass , but then it is still a form of the spirit of the Vedic Deity called “Vaak” and albeit of a lower dross kind, sometimes out of the dross can appear the sublime too . Let us all strive to make that sublimity happen with the Grace of Sri Lakshmi Hayagreeva! . 🙏
