What the above table in the chart forgot to mention is that if anyone went into a Hindu temple like Sri Kanchipuram Sri Varadaraja Swami temple and others in Tamil Nadu, you can get Kovil-iddly for free as pure Bhagavath prasaadam. 🙏

Once upon a time … I remember … the Economist UK magazine used to publish periodical Big Mac (the price of the popular McDonald burgher) Index for determining the relative value of different currencies across the world indexed to the price of the BigMac in US$. If the retail prices elsewhere were higher than the US$ price , the currency of that country was said to be overvalued and, vice versa, undervalued.

If one now were to apply the BigMac indexation technique to the Chennai Iddly price in ₹ at retail level , one might be able to proudly claim that all major world currencies relevant to the chart above are highly overvalued relative to the humble INR !
The moral of the Story : Economic theories about currency exchange-rates are unvarnished lies and Statistics are damned lies … i.e. varnished lies made to appear as theories.

Interesting…..yes nothing like Idly especially as a food when one is unwell…Kancheepuram Idly is tastier and more nutritious I think…..and costs a little more perhaps….But not that popular I suppose…..B.S.Raghavan
