“All pigs are equal but some are more equal” also implies that “…. Some pigs are unequal but some others are more unequal”.

And here in India, even when the Supreme Court protects the citizenship rights of the LGBTQ community but stops short of giving them full rights of marriage , the Gays of the World condemn our country as homophobic .

Why do almost all minority populations in India —- whether religious, gender or caste oriented — always take the majority for granted and go on whining and moaning over being victimised even when they know they live in a largely progressive and tolerant society like ours ?

Minorities are minorities … wouldn’t it behoove them to be a little more humble about it?

Equality before law is all fine — don’t get me wrong, I’m all for the Constitutional Right to Equality— but then only in so far as it does not go far beyond limits so as to result in the majority being reduced to less equal status.

The famous Orwellian dictum is “all pigs are equal but some are more equal” . Well, doesn’t it imply too that “…. Some pigs may be unequal but some others are rendered even more unequal”?

Sudarshan
