Do we all remember Anna Hazare’s short lived mass movement not so long ago against Corruption in political life ?

Why did Anna Hazare catch the imagination of the people —- even if only very briefly — when he launched his anti corruption movement ?

Election funding in our country today is the fountainhead of Corruption . So much slush and sleazy money is sloshing about in the secret coffers of politicians and their mafiosi are purveyors of drug money , liquor money , real estate money , education racket money, hawala money …..

I sincerely wish another Anna Hazare movement gets launched today after this Supreme Court verdict …

Even periodical purging of the political and electoral system is welcome … once in 10 years a shock treatment will do so much good for the health of the nation …

If not Anna Hazare , then why not Mr Modi himself ?

Didn’t Demonetisation to an extent create Fear amongst the corrupt … and brought in some transparency and respect for law … ?

So why must Mr Modi not think of another such other shock treatment to be delivered ro the system …

Corruption is cancer . It is a recurring disease that must be repeatedly put down .

You may ask me : Anna Hazare Movement was possible & needed because of obvious facts of the then Confress Party rule. Today with massive support of BJP, Mr Modi claims he himself is at the helm of the anti.-corruptton crusade in the country. Moreover, corruption is endemic and is dispersed to 29 other states in varying degrees of venality. How will ground swell happen as it happened in Anna Hazare’s movement ?

Well …. This is my answer:

For starters ….

How about asking the political parties who all received ill-gotten money ( refer the tables above) through the Electoral Bond Scheme, which was ab initio illegal, to return the money to the exchequer in return for special Bonds floated by the Government of India as a new Agro-Commodities Farmers Price Stabilisation Fund?

You may ask whether the money collected under the Bond Scheme can be described as “ill-gotten”. Well that’s exactly what the Court’s verdict implies doesn’t it?

Why not the BJP itself support such an idea ? Why not Mr Modi be the first to step up and ask his BJP party to return all the money raised through the Bond Scheme in the last 6 years as atonement for the financial misdemeanour committed under the Scheme ? It might turn force the hands of all other parties if not shame them into doing the same ?

Who knows, if BJP did that, It might even help the Party to defuse the ongoing Punjab / Haryana farmers agitation and even win them some extra votes at the polls later in a couple of months ?

Also , there is one elephant in the room which still remains non-transparent and in fact invisible : why didn’t the Court rule that State Bank of India should disclose the list of Donors?
