His talk of Tariffs, Tariffs , Tariffs reminds me of that old story about that mischievous shepherd who kept threatening villagers with shouts of “wolf, wolf, wolf” … We know what happened to him when the wolf really turned up to devour his sheep but then the villagers simply ignored his loud calls …
The whole world knows that America’s imposition of economic sanctions did not bring any nation to its knees — not North Korea, not Iran , not China, not Russia, not Venezuela and , briefly, not India too when we went nuclear …
Why does Trump think that Tariffs which are just another form of economic sanctions will succeed in intimidating countries around the world when his predecessor fellow- Presidential bullies — from Bill Clinton to George Bush to Barack Obama to Joe Biden — all failed ?
Trump was elected by the MAGA mobs of America to relieve them from the pain of price inflation … not to aggravate it .
Tariff is Trump’s bluff … sooner or later, the world will call it out, and that’s when his approval rating will begin its precipitous fall . And that will be beginning of the end of Trump’s second term .
Trump should draw lessons and wisdom from the story of the shepherd boy who cried “wolf ! Wolf!”.
