An old article of mine on Sri Parashara Bhattar published in The Hindu dt. Dec.15, 2000

U.Ve. Sri. Mukkur Lakshminaraismha Chariar (1944-2000), outstanding Vedic scholar and exponent of Sri Ramanuja Siddhaanta and Sri Vaishnava Sampradaaya, in the course of his very popular and erudite public relgious discourses (“upannyaasam“), used to regale his audiences with one very grippingly narrated (“svaarasya“) anecdote from the life of the great Sri Vaishnava theologian of Sri Rangam, Sri Parashara Bhattar (1122-1174 CE).

Sri Parashara Bhattar (1062-1174 CE).

In December 2015, I paraphrased Sri Mukkur Swamy’s “upannyaasam” narrative into English and got it published in THE HINDU. It is reproduced below in full.

This article is also included amongst 75 other Chapters in my 2016-18 published book “The Unusual Essays of an Unknown Sri Vaishnava” (available online for sale on Amazon and FlipKart).
