Sri Vaishnavas are a community of hypocrites

The Hindu dt 19 June 2024

Take a real good look at the above news item and if you happen to be a Sri Vaishnava prepare to hang your head in shame.

The grandson of the Author of this book on Sri Ramanujacharya calls Sanatana Dharma a disease like malaria/dengue to be eradicated … and our Sri Vaishnava muttadhipathis go to be present at and grace the occasion of the book release event! What can one say except that it is a sad, reprehensible blight on Sri Vaishnavism !

Do you see the politicos are all wearing footwear while our Acharyas are standing there barefooted … and the book on Sri Ramanujacharya is being held in hand by a self-avowed “naasthika-vaadi”? This photo makes it so evident what kind and extent of respect that the VVIP politicians have for the Sri Vaishnava muttadipathis.

Sri Vaishnavas have been reduced in stature to a community of obsequious hypocrites hobnobbing with irreligious forces of Tamil Nadu. We have surrendered and allowed our Acharya Sri Ramanuja’s sacred name and legacy to be commandeered by those who have publicly shown that they have nothing but contempt for Sanatana Dharma. We have lost all vestiges of our ancient self-respect and our dignity.

As a community, we must ask ourselves this question in all honesty and humility: would a religious establishment like any of the Sankaracharya Muttams in the country ever kowtow to political honchos in such a meek and cynical fashion ?

I write this more out of sadness than outrage since I would never want to say anything disrespectful to our Yatheeswaras. But when I am simply unable to understand their odd behaviour , I just cannot help myself in wanting to raise awkward and even embarrassing questions on my own behalf … and as well as on behalf of hundreds of my own community brethren who I know choose to remain dumb witnesses out of sheer apathy.
