I wrote my book (see below) two years ago out of anguish and great sadness …
Since then, the world of Sri Vaishnavas has not changed . The sectarian bickering and petty-mindedness doesn’t seem to diminish one bit.
As a writer of the book, I’m now left nursing a sense of profound hurt and futility . I’m saddened that my book — a very small and humble effort to record long history of the Sri Vaishnavas with the main intention of bringing about a bit of reconciliation between Tenkalai and Vadakalai sects in our Vishnu temples — has done nothing at all to sensitise my community to the ridicule it continues to heap upon itself through the kind of ugly fracas as reported today in the news-story above and which, in fact, are now a regular spectacle at these annual religious events .
