Allow me to congratulate you on your appointment to this vital ministry. As you take charge of managing over 40,000 temples and religious institutions across Tamil Nadu, you hold the unique responsibility of safeguarding our state’s profound spiritual, cultural, and economic heritage.
To ensure the integrity of our sacred spaces, I urge your ministry to prioritize the following critical action items:
- Complete Land Digitization: Deploy geo-sequenced digital mapping across all temple lands to definitively halt illegal encroachments.
- Launch Public IT Dashboards: Publish real-time data on hundi collections, donations, and trust spending to build absolute public trust.
- Regularize Commercial Rents: Enforce fair market rent collections from commercial tenants occupying temple properties to optimize revenue.
- Supervise Gold Monetization: Ensure strict, transparent auditing when melting unutilized temple gold into secure bank bullion.
- Accelerate Master Plans: Fast-track the infrastructure expansions at major pilgrim hubs like Palani and Maruthamalai.
- Upgrade Pilgrim Amenities: Modernize queue systems and build high-capacity sanitation facilities at all high-traffic temples.
- Fill Institutional Vacancies: Transparently recruit archakars, executive officers, and engineers to resolve critical staffing shortages.
- Expand Staff Welfare: Broaden the reach of the Annadhanam scheme and the Village Temple Priests Welfare Board initiatives.
- Hit Consecration Targets: Execute ancient scriptural restorations safely to achieve the target of 4,000 temple consecrations.
- Protect Sacred Antiquities: Partner with the Tamil Nadu Police Idol Wing to inventory, tag, and shield historic stone sculptures and bronzes.
- Ensure that all issues and queries raised in Auditor Reports during the last several years are all duly addressed and corrective/redressal measures are fully implemented.
By addressing these administrative and spiritual priorities, your leadership can usher in an era of unprecedented transparency, safeguarding our temples for generations to come.
