What a truly great tennis player he was , Roger Federer !
His artistry on courts was unmatched . He wielded the racquet like a supreme maestro — as though it was a violin on whose strings he could make melodies that would win fan’s hearts … and even bring tears of joy to the eyes of a few of the millions who watched him notch up win after win in his long, illustrious career … 👏👏💯
And now here he is after retirement !
Standing still tall, still as suave as ever and still able to graciously rake in the public applause and bask in the adulation showered upon him by legions of his fans with the same smirking self-modesty had been practised and honed to perfection during his long career whenever he had had to step on to the public stage and podium .
Roger’s acceptance speeches — always short but cloying — while receiving awards and trophies continue to have that same silken delicate touch as did his sliced backhand volleys at Wimbledon centre court . Bravo !
In public appearances these days — when the global media’s cameras are all trained on him and flashing like the one recently at the Hall of Fame Award event — Roger knows exactly when and how to turn on his wonted , vaunted lachrymose charm. That very special skill to produce tears on cue, on stage and on the big occasion when required seems so much too like his famed well-timed drop-volleys that he had once used with devastating effect indeed to disarm and floor opponents . When tears roll down Federer’s cheeks , the crowds can at once feel their fan-hearts suddenly melting.
Today , after retirement, Federer has really no more peaks to climb and conquer in the world of tennis : his name has now entered the Hall of Fame ! What a well-deserved honour! What else is there for him to stoop to conquer?
As an ardent fan of Roger all these years , I feel emboldened now to venture giving a word of advice for my tennis idol, Roger Federer … advice unsolicited, but sincerely spoken.
Roger , with your good looks , handsome demeanour, your lachrymal glands still in perfect working order and your wonderful charming style and with your uncanny ability to appear so bashful and so, so self-effacing when under the adoring, blazing glare of the spotlight … dear Roger , you ought to now try taking a real solid shot — a smashing overhead volley, perhaps— at a possible second career: yes, a career in Hollywood films 💫! You’ll be such a terrific hit on the cinema screen … perhaps even more adorable than as a tennis great ! The fans will simply slurp and gobble you up in sheer delight !
So, Roger , if ever you happen to read this blog of mine, let it be known to you that I , this humble Unknown loyal fan of yours, shall wait now for you to appear soon on the big screen in a theatre near my home….
Heartfelt congratulations to you , Roger Federer, Hall of Fame champion ! And the next time I see you, I hope it will be either as an icon on the Hollywood silver screen or I shall hear about the King of England finally knighting you as Sir Roger Federer … or, who knows, maybe both !
