Take a good look at the Infograph above. 11 out of 26 countries in the list have a satisfaction score of 50% or above. So, democracy after all is not manna from heaven.
Democracy in Asia seems to work better than rest of the world … 5 out of 8 countries have satisfaction score of 50% or above .
USA and Europe we know together go around the world preening over their governance institutions and lecture us all about their “robust Democracy” and how it must be run… Americans pride themselves in fact for “exceptionalism” in democratic freedoms. And yet people there seem to be most dissatisfied with democracy . Their combined satisfaction score is only 3 out of 10.
The chart doesn’t include one huge chunk of the world’s population : those that are not Democracies — viz. China, Islamic countries and Russia. What can be said of the Satisfaction/Dissatisfaction score of peoples there on account of the governance systems they have there ? I dare say the score could be 50:50.
Bottom line : Democracy essentially means two principal things : People’s Power and Tolerance.
Well… the chart above tells me that nearly half the number of people on this planet are severely disempowered. It is not surprising hence that the human race of all species on earth is a rabidly intolerant one .
The misrule of Democracy maketh Man intolerant.
