Waqf Act Amendment Bill 2024 is pending in Parliament and expectedly is arousing a lot of heat, sound, fury and much of it is more political posturing and theatrics rather than any significant debate.
However, after following the debates on TV and the Press media in the last few days, I could not help reaching across to the shelves of my personal library at home and retrieving a book I had read a year ago with avid interest. It was authored by Anand Ranganathan and was titled “Hindus in Hindu Rashtra – 8th class citizens and victims of State sponsored apartheid” (2023).

In a hard- hitting Chapter on the Waqf Act , Anand Ranganathan explains so very lucidly and starkly the sheer inequity and un-constitutionality of the Act’s provisions .
Many of you readers of this blog perhaps are already aware of the blatant bigotry that is part of the Waqf Act … It is unnecessary for me to expatiate on them. Still all that I wish to do here in this blogpost is to simply reproduce below a few extracts from that Chapter in Ranganathan’s book just so that we all can jog our memories about the blatant injustice done to the Hindus of this country by successive governments of India since the time of Indira Gandhi until Manmohan Singh who used the Waqf Act to continue appeasing the Muslim community’s vote bank:
Jai Hind !
