Before you go “shaming” the “Manu Mind-Set”, Mr Rahul Gandhi, first check out your own mindset.

Before Shaming Manu, Mr Gandhi, Examine Your Own Political Mindset

Rahul Gandhi has called the Manusmriti’s view of women “a shame.” Fair enough. But can secularism be selective? The real test is whether the same constitutional standard is applied to patriarchy in every religious tradition.

To condemn the “Manu mindset” is easy. The harder test is to condemn, with equal moral clarity, every religiously sanctioned attempt to deny women equal citizenship.

The Shah Bano episode remains the hardest question for the Congress tradition: when constitutional equality for a divorced Muslim woman collided with organised religious pressure, which side did it choose?

No ancient text need be banned. But no ancient text—Hindu, Muslim, Christian or otherwise—can be permitted to outrank the Constitution in determining a woman’s civil rights.

The “Indian Tax-Terrorism loop”: legislators, abetters, bystanders and victims

by M. K. Sudarshan B.Com. F.C.A. July 29, 2026: Chennai, India There is in India a thing called a systemic loop of “tax terrorism” that is deeply entrenched within the architectural design of Indian tax administration, constitutional divisions, and budgeting conventions. In his very recent interview on Raj Shamani‘s podcast Figuring Out, https://youtu.be/jr0k_fOR1b0?si=-p8JVNJ_lEDa8n1i , Mohandas Pai highlightedContinue reading “The “Indian Tax-Terrorism loop”: legislators, abetters, bystanders and victims”

THE FATHER of THE NATION: Sorry, “insufficient proof”

(A short-story inspired by Franz Kafka) by M.K.Sudarshan He owned one-tenth of an acre. Not much, but enough to keep a man alive if the sky remained merciful. It was the only map he trusted. Its boundaries were not drawn in ink but in memory: a tamarind tree on one side, a broken stone onContinue reading “THE FATHER of THE NATION: Sorry, “insufficient proof””

The Paradox of Social Engineering: Why Affirmative Action Risks Becoming Social De-Engineering

The scene portrays a crowded bus stop labeled “Government Transport Madras”. Instead of allowing passengers to board normally, a bus conductor stands at the door reading a restrictive government mandate to an astonished crowd. To mock how extreme state-enforced communal reservation could theoretically become, the conductor announces a rigid proportional breakdown of who is permitted onContinue reading “The Paradox of Social Engineering: Why Affirmative Action Risks Becoming Social De-Engineering”

Arvindan Neelakandan applies broad-brush stroke on Tiruvalluvar

https://open.substack.com/pub/sharpbyswarajya/p/yajnopavitam-across-thiruvalluvars?r=xbjdy&utm_campaign=post&utm_medium=email QUOTE: “The honest reclamation is available, and far more powerful. Tamil tradition holds that Valluvar belonged to the Paraiyar community, and that Valluvar itself designated the priestly and astrological lineage within it. Gustav Oppert documented in 1893 that the Valluvar Purohits wore the yajnopavitam by right, performed Sanskrit ceremonies at Paraiyar and Pallar weddings, and were respectfully consultedContinue reading “Arvindan Neelakandan applies broad-brush stroke on Tiruvalluvar”

The Unending Scam: How India Learned to Live with Retail Corruption: A Commentary on Broken Promises and Powerless Public

By M. K . Sudarshan India’s retail corruption persists despite 75 years of broken anti-corruption promises from JP Narayan, V.P. Singh, MGR, Modi, Kejriwal, and Vijay. No leader delivered 50% of promises or won re-election for anti-corruption. Unlike Singapore’s ruthless enforcement, Indians suffer learned helplessness, paying bribes while complaining—complicit in their own exploitation. ******************* InContinue reading “The Unending Scam: How India Learned to Live with Retail Corruption: A Commentary on Broken Promises and Powerless Public”

The Fig Leaf of Sovereign Guarantee: Tamil Nadu’s Temple Fund Dilemma and a Path to Justice

Perhaps you will mature in time, Thiru. Udayanidhi Stalin “avargale”!

Sanatana and the Slur Udhayanidhi Stalin’s renewed call for the “eradication” of Sanatana Dharma is not merely another episode in Tamil Nadu’s familiar culture war. It is a reminder of how casually a complex civilizational inheritance is flattened into a political target. The slogan works only by collapsing distinctions: between Sanatana Dharma and caste oppression,Continue reading “Perhaps you will mature in time, Thiru. Udayanidhi Stalin “avargale”!”
