Macroeconomics they never taught me at university : “The Zelensky Effect”

One of the important lessons in modern economics they never formally taught me when I was at university is that when faced with impending woe and imminent recession, the two most effective policy-measures a nation’s leaders will resort to while trying to dig themselves out of the hole they themselves in the first place dug are these:

1. Print Money a.k.a. “stimulus

2. Hike spending on defence a.k.a. Defense strengthening”.

What the University did not fail however to teach me was that Economics is a dismal science”.

It took so many years now in 2024 and it’s only after seeing the Chart below and being able to grasp its underlying complicated storyline … which by the way happens to be titled “The Zelensky Effect” … that, at last, the penny drops into the slot for me! I’m now able to finally make the intelligent connection between what had then been taught to me and why; and what wasn’t taught to me and why not.

  1. India does not even spend 2% of GDP on defence. See how Modi after condemning Anthony for delaying the purchase of fighters direly needed for India has now transcended Anthony’s freeze by over one year. that is he has been sitting on it for 11 years.Kudos Modiji.
