How interesting if not bizarre indeed is Siddaramiah a posteriori logic … for championing “inter-caste marriage” in Hindu Society!
Just because he failed to marry a girl of his choice on account of caste differences, he now as a powerful Chief Minister of a large State in India says he will issue a social edict promoting inter-caste matrimony. His own personal disappointment and frustration in life now becomes for him a very legitimate basis to promulgate a larger social ethic ?!
We ordinary mortals and citizens in this country now find ourselves caught in a great moral quandary, don’t we ? Should we now bow to Siddaramiah or to the Bhagavath-Gita in the matter of Marriage and Morals? For what he says is in fact diametrically opposed to what Sri Krishna said in the Bhagavath Gita as follows :
सङ्करो नरकायैव कुलघ्नानां कुलस्य च |
पतन्ति पितरो ह्येषां लुप्तपिण्डोदकक्रिया: || 42||
saṅkaro narakāyaiva kula-ghnānāṁ kulasya cha
patanti pitaro hy eṣhāṁ lupta-piṇḍodaka-kriyāḥ
कुलक्षये प्रणश्यन्ति कुलधर्मा: सनातना: |
धर्मे नष्टे कुलं कृत्स्नमधर्मोऽभिभवत्युत || 40||
When a family lineage is destroyed, its traditions get vanquished, and the rest of the family becomes involved in irreligion.
strisu dustasu varsneya jayate varna-sankarah:
When women are polluted, varna-sankara, unqualified children, are generated, and when the varna-sankara population increases, the entire world becomes hellish.
दोषैरेतै: कुलघ्नानां वर्णसङ्करकारकै: |
उत्साद्यन्ते जातिधर्मा: कुलधर्माश्च शाश्वता: || 43||
doṣhair etaiḥ kula-ghnānāṁ varṇa-saṅkara-kārakaiḥ
utsādyante jāti-dharmāḥ kula-dharmāśh cha śhāśhvatāḥ
Through the evil deeds of those who destroy the family tradition and thus give rise to unwanted progeny, a variety of social and family welfare activities are ruined.

A Chief Minister embraces, endorses and declares publicly that he will champion “Varna sankaram”… little knowing that his edict goes wholly against Hindu Dharma , as laid down in the Bhagavath Gita . He does so without compunction because he knows and we all know too well that no Hindu Sanatani can ever raise a word of protest against him because that would be held to unconstitutional! Even the RSS will regard it as grave constitutional heresy if any of us took exception to Siddaramiah.
So, then what are we lesser Hindu mortals to do now? Which edict should we second-class Hindus defer to ? The Bhagavath- Gita or the Indian Constitution? Let’s wring our hands in despair and keep moping over morals.
If you ask me, I can only advise you to decide for yourself . This is a free country, after all. But I would also caution you to make sure you as a citizen don’t fall foul of the Constitution of India if you were to make your choice in favor of the Bhagavath-Gita. You must realise that falling foul of the Bhagavath Gita may not cause you as much trouble nor be as grievous a sin as violating the Constitution certainly will…. Not so far as you are still in this world, no. You may then ask me, What about then in the world beyond… the world of Sri Krishna where I must finally go to? Well… all I can say is, you can cross that bridge when you come to it …
Moreover, if you choose the Bhagavath Gita, please beware that in the times we live in today, the above Gita verses too are likely to be roundly condemned by many enlightened people as being sexist, misogynistic and casteist. So you must take great care to please tread carefully where angels fear to rush in. Not all Gita Shlokas are suitable to be touted about in public forums or platforms. Political Discretion is always the better part of Moral valour.
